Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson and... Liz Truss? A Look Inside the Ex- PM's Foray for Make America Great Again

The former UK leader, began the inaugural episode of her video series with a pledge to reveal "malicious actors" working to bring down the UK, United States and European nations. Truss elaborated she would reveal how an "international network of leftists operate to undermine democracy and the will of the people."

"We will examine the Maga phenomenon and observe how it can be achieved in Britain," she said. "We will interview the key figures of the Trumpist political sphere."

In advance of the program's debut, there was a notably ardent backer. "This is the beginning of a sort of transformation," said veteran reporter John Solomon. His conservative Just the News will host the Truss's new podcasts.

Establishing Ties in the Maga-Verse

Compatriot supporters, including a counselor supportive of Reform, played a role in her establish the her new show. The production is adequate, if somewhat rudimentary. Truss has amassed 10,000 subscribers in her first week and her debut had 67,000 views in that timeframe.

It is a modest start, but in making common cause with Solomon, the former PM is being pushed into a well-developed political media sphere producing and amplifying Maga talking points. Central preoccupations include accusations of information control by the traditional news outlets and a desire to eradicate a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that the ex-PM holds responsible for the swift end of her short and troubled leadership.

"Just the News is not well-known outside of the Maga-verse, but it does have influence there, largely because of its founder, who provides analysis on conservative outlets like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even questioned Donald Trump," noted Professor Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Make America Great Again phenomenon.

A Controversial Partner

The former PM's foray to transplant Maga media to the United Kingdom has drawn her nearer to controversial figures such as the journalist.

He set up Just the News following criticism following accusations of promoting inaccurate reports about the President's actions in Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about one-time diplomat to that country.

These allegations were echoed across the conservative press, with he featuring as a common interviewee on the prominent cable news broadcast. The former president personally endorsed his stories.

The journalist published the reports about Ukraine in a number of opinion pieces for the publication The Hill, where he had already been re-designated as an opinion writer when staffers raised concerns over his articles. His claims were central in the then-president's request for the Ukrainian government to look into Hunter Biden and his father in 2019. Those demands resulted in articles of impeachment against Trump. Senators later found not guilty the president.

Not long after the journalist departed the newspaper in late 2019, the outlet stated it was performing a review of his work concerning Ukraine. It found he had relied on unreliable sources and stated he "did not disclose crucial information about key Ukrainian sources, including the reality that they had been charged or were being probed."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

His broadcast spots are a indication of the right-wing media network Truss is becoming part of. Solomon mentioned his endorsement of her new show on a broadcast he helps run on Real America's Voice, a political media platform that is the base for the pro-Trump commentator Steve Bannon and on which Tucker Carlson also appears. The ex-PM has already spoken with Steve Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

In linking up with Solomon and Just the News, the former leader has become a niche participant in a much wider network of pro-Trump platforms that often share and promote one another's material.

The journalist's podcast and Real America's Voice show have often featured personalities such as influencer Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose disparagement of the US Agency for International Development was referenced by Elon Musk as justification for shutting down the international development organization.

An International Strategy

While her awkward delivery and professional woes have drawn derision within the UK, certain American analysts are not discounting her efforts to rebrand as a local version of the Maga media.

"It is necessary to treat individuals such as her as significant, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented a former Biden White House aide, who worked in the Biden administration.

"It was evident how in the recent campaign Donald Trump utilized that media network to spread his narrative. Certainly that sphere exports and influences debate internationally. It looks fairly obvious to me that the environment in the UK are similar to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to prosper in the US."

Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already exerting influence in Britain.

"Online platforms knows no borders," Finlayson remarked. "There is a certain atmosphere within which ideas travel – on occasion manifesting in radical ways and other times more moderately – but which is interlinked."

The academic said the expansion of the online right in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "possibility to have a growing impact is significant."

Cross-Atlantic Aspirations

"Liz Truss along with the Reform UK leader not long ago appeared at the CPAC, where I saw they deployed pro-Trump themes ahead of the {king of Maga|
